Greetings!
I am passionate for, and fascinated by, just about everything that is related to digital technology in both software and hardware applications. I have a special interest in Cyber-security, Pen Testing, Forensics/Reverse Engineering, Infrastructure Security, and Artificial Intelligence/Robotics.
I love to tinker with software and hardware toys and I’ve been compared to MacGyver because I can usually find a workaround with only the tools at hand (or else develop the tools I need to accomplish the task). I usually find a solution even when none is apparent because I believe there is either a direct solution or a “workaround” to every problem. I work with Kali Linux cyber tools, Web Apps, Raspberry Pis, and Arduino devices. I have “rooted” (jailbroke) my Android and iOS devices to gain administrative access, and installed an alternate OS and app repository. I also love to play with different operating systems and I am proficient in numerous distributions of Linux (both CLI and GUI), Android, and all versions of Windows with the exception of Windows 11.
I taught myself Fortran IV and Cobol in the ‘punch card days’ and I learned C++ by locating the tutorials in a PC with a back-end Borland compiler. More recently I have developed skills in Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Python, Docker, and other languages and applications.
I published two books for the CompTIA Security+ Certification and I continue to take numerous courses online wherever they are available (YouTube, Udemy, Coursera, MIT Open Courseware, Standford Online University, etc.). I teach advanced programming classes (Java, C++) , mathematics, and network security for Penn State University and PC Repair (A+ Certification) and Operating System courses for our local community college. In addition, I was invited to present a series of community talks on information and network security and was recently invited to speak at a forensics conference. I taught Microsoft Office apps to college and business professionals.
I have employment experience in a wide variety of industries, including Chemical Manufacturing, Medical Research, Medical Laboratory, Social Services, Consulting, Construction, Management, Finance, and even Landscaping. This experience enables me to better understand practical applications in each field as well as relate to the people who work in those industries.
I like to explore new technologies and recently am having fun with AI/ML development and user interfaces like Gemini, Perplexity AI, and ChatGPT. I consider myself to have earned the equivalent of CISSP certification, and I use CISSP textbooks and Security Domains in the Information and Network Security classes that I teach.
I value my strong personal and work ethics and integrity. I work independently and at the same time I am an effective team player with excellent support and communication skills. I look forward to integrating my skills with those in support of your company.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
David
